7D7N Bangkok 2015: Wang Lang Market

Image
Previous post: Marriot Vacation Club (MVC) at The Empire Place Good thing I kept my notes and itinerary and everything in Evernote, so even though the trip was on May, I can still recall things haha. And luckily no one is keeping track so I can still talk about it although it's been almost a year ago. As briefly mentioned in the earlier post , Hon and I went to Bangkok 1-2 days earlier than our other two friends. Hon prepared all of the itinerary for this trip (which is an extremely rare case because he is a man without planning but he has his reason), FC introduced him to use Evernote and it is like the best tool ever!! We had the whole day to ourselves since one of our other friends would arrive later in the evening. He let me choose a location as our dating spot. On his notes, something along the line that said "famous among local for food...." immediately caught my attention, and I said "THIS ONE!! Let's go THERE!" So, Wang Lang Market IT IS! N...

ETS Experience: Arau - KL Sentral - Arau

Image
UPDATE (July 2018) 1) The KTMB ETS student card is now virtual/card-less! Application is here (click) Now they require a verification letter (again) from students aged 24 years old and above before applying for the card. Form can be downloaded at the link above. The annual fee is still the same old RM35. When asked by train conductor during ticket checking for verification (that you bought the ticket with a student card), you can show the virtual card on smartphone and/or your IC I've kena several kinds of conductor when they check the ticket, some just trust me and don't require to see the card and IC, some asked for IC, some asked for the card, some asked for both. It all depends on luck. UPDATE (Sept 2017) 1) All trains to-fro Padang Besar no longer stop at Penang, which means no more forward facing then back all the way to KL yay! 2) TIPS in selecting forward facing seats!!! The nice blogger from lensakami provides this crucial info! Simply put: Southbound  (...

Dating on Two Wheels: 3D2N bike touring to Hatyai, Thailand

Image
Side note: 1 month's effort of diet + exercise, spoiled in just one week of CNY break. Yay!! (NOT) Hon and I, we are those 'random planning' kind of couple, so this bike touring thing happened kinda 'randomly'.  Hon has been talking for ages about bike touring, ever since he got his Lerun mountain bike (MTB). That has been one of his dreams for many years and now that he has a bicycle (and THREE now lol), bike touring is some sort of his  ultimate goal . I totally love it but too bad I don't have the time commitment at the moment. I realized that we haven't been to trips recently and there's a window during the weekend before CNY break that I can squeeze a domestic trip, and I suggested it to Hon, and we kinda agreed either in Penang, Taiping or Ipoh for that weekend. Then, there comes the randomness within a week before the actual event.

New Niece: Soo Zhi Xuan 苏芷萱

Since I wrote about Shirlyn, it's only fair to write about my new niece Zhi Xuan too. Haha maybe I'm the only one to think that LOL! 16th Nov 2015, eeearly morning about 6 something, I woke up, turned on my phone and I saw several WhatsApp messages from our sisters group, At 5.30am Chen said she felt the pain and going to the hospital, then I slept back. Got excited also lah coz OMG OMG OMG the baby is coming!!!!!!!!! Woke up again at 8am and she said she's still waiting for the doctor and to be admitted. Several messages going around like she's been admitted, delivery room still occupied, this and that. I got up, morning bath and getting ready routine, got out of the house, had breakfast and by the time I reached lab at 10.30am, message came in said she's delivered! OMG SO FAST!! I've heard about people go into labor for hours and some even days, I expected the news to come at least on the noon or something, but that was FAST! Quickly demand for p...

Kejohanan Badminton Tertutup UniMAP 2015

Image
This happened few weekends ago. I joined the 'almost' same event last year , and this time, Siew Ching cancelled the Women's Double and decided on the Mixed Double category instead. When I got the news, I asked around for a partner until Faiq, a buddy whom I played badminton with in Kuala Perlis asked if I'm interested to partner up. Of course I am!! ^^ The tournament was on Sunday, and I started to feel some tingling pain on my right elbow, my dominant hand, during a badminton session on Wed. I suspect it was a 'Tennis Elbow' injury that I got from intensive training (which is not so intensive anyway) - which turns out it was probably from the heavy lifting on Tues in the gym, I lifted heavier than I usually did that day and my forearm swayed. I went to UniMAP clinic to get the letter for physiotherapy session, received some treatment along with a hotpack and rested since then. The tournament started at 1pm. It was a lot more fun as compared to last...

Happy Birthday to Me 2015

Image
After a (two if you read the Mandarin version too) solemn post, I'll refresh this blog with something else to lighten the mood a little. My birthday was on two weekends ago. It was a rather quiet birthday this year, a very simple celebration with the one I love :) Started the day early with a badminton friendly match with UTAR.  I think I might have a stage fright, or maybe in this case, match fright because I performed miserably =.= Must be because hardly been in competition these days. Us girls only compete in Women Double and Mixed Double, so after our games, the UTAR girls requested for another game for fun, and I played so much better haha! Even when I played with a bet in hand also OK ar *chet* Hon making a spontaneous trip to the North for me, and we spent two days in Alor Setar, which I finally had the chance to explore the place in depth. We stayed at a Rainbow Hotel near Alor Setar Mall, had a coffee at a café near town, visited the newly opened Aman Centra...

Rest In Peace, Ah Ma Batnar

Image
Ah-Ma as in ‘grandmother’, Batnar as in a place’s name – where she’s from. Ah-Ma Batnar aka my paternal grandmother passed away on 19 th Aug, Wednesday, aged 95. That day, I was busy preparing for the 8.30am badminton tournament in UUM that I missed my mom’s call at 6.30am.  The boys who are long-time tournament participants advised us to switch off our phone to avoid distraction. I didn’t read any messages until after I finished my miserable first single game.  After losing the first single game, I finally had the time to look at my phone and the first thing that came to my mind after I saw the message dad sent was:”Yikes~ What about the next game?” At that moment, I wasn’t feeling sad or anything, instead, I felt troubled that I might not be able to play on the next game which was on Friday. After settling everything, I went back home that night. I still wasn’t feeling sad or anything even when I saw her in the coffin, but Wee Shirlyn creep the heck ...
