Girls Gone Wild - Langkawi
Us girls gone crazily wild!!!
As a plan of abducting the bride-to-be for a trip, the minute we had everyone OK with the date, we got the funding, ferry tickets, accommodation all set, and we went off for a weekend getaway. We being me, Theresa, Jynn and Aimi.
Oh, it's not as simple as 'OK'. Us girls have been wanting to go for a girls' day getaway for a long time, but Aimi's been busy with all the ups and downs in her life lately, part of it is because of her wedding in Dec. When Jynn got fed up with Aimi's school's unnecessary menial duties that kept her so busy, she warned:"Aimi, you better leave all this nonsense behind and go with us, or else I'm gonna be a mafia and kidnap you from school there and then!" ...and, threat worked!
We went on the morning. Since it's not school or public holiday, the jetty was quiet and half empty. It's been awhile since I step foot into the jetty, and was surprised they renovated the place.
We sat at the first row, which directly facing the aircond. *shivers* Worse, I made a bad decision of not going to the toilet before we boarded (and I thought the ferry doesn't have toilet), so I had to 'breathe in peace, breathe out tummyache"! The ferry ride was OK comparing to the ones Hon and I took from Koh Lipe. The sea was calm but the weather wasn't so great.
Finally arriving, but the disembark seemed to take forever! By the time we reached the back of the ferry to disembrak, only I saw toilets! It was in bad shape but it seemed like a heaven to me!
--end of bowel movement talks--
Theresa booked a car from a tour agency in Kuala Perlis, we got a RM70/day rate for a Persona, RM100 as we were to return the car next day at 3pm. Not bad huh! (That's the rate for off season though)
Once the car arrived, we got up, drove to refuel, and off we went to our hotel in Pantai Cenang.
We booked a room for four at Sandy Beach Resort with the rate of RM180/night, breakfast included. The only thing I bother to shout about the room is that it was located at the other side of Pantai Cenang, not by the beach! :(
We took a stroll along Pantai Cenang walking street. We had a foot massage at one of the small shops next to... erm.... genius me I never take note of the name of anything! The reason I wanted to emphasize this shop as they provide very nice massage! The shop is owned by a Thai lady who dress up like a tomboy (we can't figure what gender he/she is), it has a small stall outside doing the Henna tattoo. Three of us took the foot scrub package and Theresa went for the head, shoulder and back massage. We were happy of the massage, except the girl who did me was a little too strong on her hand, my knee felt pain afterwards.
Had lunch, went back hotel to change, and off to beach!!
It's very windy on the day, the waves were rough!! Initially I just wanted to take a dip, slowly the 'wetness' went up to the knee, thigh, waist, and eventually the head! The waves were so irresistible LOL! Plus, it was fun to watch how others played with the wave! As the sands on the beach were a little rough, Theresa said the beach in Koh Lipe was a lot better, I was looking forward to it since I were to go two weeks later (post up next).
Getting out of fun was never easy, but we had to as the day was getting dark.
Went back, bath, changed, and out again for food and shopping. We walked and walked and walked and bumped into Cenang Mall! Haven't been to Langkawi for almost 3 years and they have a new mall on Pantai Cenang street! You have to pay RM1 (!!) to use the washroom (you will be given a Premier tissue pack); Odd shaped mall; Starbucks, Old Town; I bought a Colgate Plax mouthwash at Guardian in the mall, which the same thing costs 50 cents cheaper at the mini mart next to our hotel.
We walked until our legs couldn't take it anymore, and called it a day..... just yet.
Best thing about a getaway with your girl friends is that, you get to talk about a LOT of stuffs! It depends on what kind of a group of friends you are in though, and this group has a married woman, a bride-to-be, a desperado who has finally gotten a boyfriend and a decent good girl. That night too we finally get to know the other side of one another muahaha!
Next morning, we woke up with a pair of puffy eyes and had our breakfast by the beach!
The trip was free-n-easy, every idea came spontaneously. After checked out, we decided to go place none of us have gone to - the burnt rice field. On our way, we saw the signboard showing to Mahsuri's Tomb Makam Mahsuri, and we changed course heheeee~
The legend: Mahsuri was an attractive young woman lived in Langkawi. She was accused of adultery, tied to a pole and executed by stabbing. She bled white blood when stabbed as a sign of her innocence, and with her dying breathe she cursed Langkawi to have seven generations of bad luck.
The compound has the white marble tomb situated at the center of the compound; several wooden Malay traditional wooden houses to explore; museum displaying the portrait of Mahsuri, the legends in different languages, the jewels, the weapon etc; a well which has a beautifying effect etc etc.
I've known about Mahsuri and her legend since young. Because of this legend, I seriously and honestly believed that we actually have WHITE blood!! Well, it even has a name to call what -- WHITE blood cell! I believed that when we take our blood, separate it, and we would have two layers of blood, the red and the white. We usually bleed the red as its the 'common' one; we would only bleed the white when we are at the life threatening situation or some kind.
The irony? My research now is about white blood cell :D
We had our lunch at Domino Restaurant in Kuah town. Theresa is a frequent visitor to this restaurant as she will/must visit here whenever she comes to Langkawi, so frequent the owner knows her personally :) The restaurant was initially owned by a German, and when he passed away, the new owner Dee took over. According to the frequenter, the taste doesn't change at all and that is not easy which makes this place so great! It was so nice we kept asking for the menu and ordered for several rounds haha! We ordered pizza, two flavor of spaghetti, fish&chip, chicken chop, apple crumble and pancake as desserts. Recommendation? OMG everything is a must try!!
